Mia Mackie is an actress, who has appeared on stage and screen.
Mia grew up in the East of England and is half Londoner, half Liverpudlian. Mia spent much of her spare time in her younger years performing in school and local theatre productions. While studying for her A levels, she joined a successful local theatre company and played a number of classic and modern roles on stage and in unique locations around the country.
After leaving school Mia spent 6 months in Peru teaching street children and young people with learning difficulties. She also spent time working with organisations responding to social issues in the UK.
Mia then went on to study Criminal Justice and Politics at The London School of Economics, and continued to develop her acting skills in a number of roles in her spare time. After graduating, she decided to focus her talents on perfecting her craft and was granted a place at Drama Centre, a prestigious London based ‘method’ school.
This prepared Mia for her acting career via several short films and projects with a number of up and coming directors and writers. During her studies, Mia played numerous roles, including corporate, theatre and commercial performances. She excelled at playing layered and challenging characters, particularly those which went against her casting type.
Since graduating, Mia has gone on to play roles on stage (including Rookery Nook at the Menier Chocolate Factory, London and parts at the Edinburgh Festival) and several short films. Mia has appeared on television in the UK and internationally (including Law & Order UK – ITV and BBC America) and appeared in May Day, which was screened on BBC One in March 2013.
